Michael J. Cahill, P.E. Mr. Cahill graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, in 1949, with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. He received his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering in 1952 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he also instructed courses in that area of study. After graduation, Mr. Cahill spent six months working for Stone and Webster Construction Company, as concrete technologist, steel inspector, and foundation piling inspector on a large turbine building addition. Mr. Cahill subsequently joined Duncan and Cahill, Inc., General Contractors and Engineers, as job superintendent, performing in all categories of building, construction and site development. The company performed work with its own forces in excavation, concrete work, masonry, and carpentry, and subcontracted roofing finishes, and mechanical and electrical work. Mr. Cahill was directly involved with the planning and direction of excavation equipment, design and erection of concrete forms, walls, floors, columns and pavings, and underpinning and shoring of building components. This also included the selection of masonry materials, the installation of doors and windows of various materials, and the design and installation of various items of millwork. In addition, Mr. Cahill was involved in the close supervision of subcontractors performing other items of work necessary to complete construction. He has also done numerous design-build projects, such as an office and warehouse building, cast iron foundry building, several plant additions, an administrative building, including equipment installation, room alterations, correction of building problems, site work for parking lots, masonry repairs, etc. Mr. Cahill has also been intimately involved with the preparation of estimates necessary for the evaluation of all this work, as well as with cost accounting. Currently, Mr. Cahill is the President of Duncan and Cahill, Inc. He is the past president of the Eastern Contractors Association, the Eastern New York General Contractors Association, and the Building Industry Employers of New York State. Mr. Cahill is a registered Professional Engineer in New York State. |
