Patrick A. Carrajat
Mr. Carrajat received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Island University in 1965.
His work experience began in 1961 with the New York City Housing Authority as an elevator mechanic's helper and mechanic, responding to emergency shutdowns, and performing minor and major repairs. From 1964-1970 he was employed with C.B.A., Inc. Elevator Consultants and was involved in the formulation of elevator specifications for new constructions, modernization and field supervision of actual work. During this period he performed over 1,000 field surveys to assess maintenance conditions and measures required to return this equipment to proper working order.
From 1970 through 1973 he worked with Flynn-Hill Elevator Corp., overseeing all operating departments. During this time he gained extensive experience meeting with clients and consulting engineers at job sites. He later worked with Century Elevator Maintenance Corp., performing maintenance, modernization and repair work on all types of elevators and escalators including manual and automatic, sidewalk, hydraulic and freight elevator systems.
From 1975 to the present, Mr. Carrajat has worked with Certified Elevator Products Corp., where his duties include design, re-design and sourcing of elevator and escalator replacement components. This work includes testing and evaluation of materials and quality assurance on completed products, which encompass virtually every component used in the maintenance and repair of escalator systems. He also works with L.I.R. Consulting Group where his duties include on-site accident investigation and reconstruction, and preparation of investigation reports, examination of documents, attendance at depositions, and providing expert trial testimony. Over the past several years he has served as expert in over 1,000 elevator and escalator tort actions.
His memberships include The National Association of Elevator Contractors, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ANST 17.J, and The Elevator Conference of New York.
